  2. How much are adoptions? Adoptions are $60 with shots, $150 with shots and if the dog is altered (spay/neutered). a $25 spay/neuter fee is required if the dog is not spayed/neutered and will be given back if dog is spayed/neutered and proof if shown to us, such as an itemized bill from your vet.

  4. My dog is missing, can you help?  call Jess between the hours of 8 AM - 5 PM monday - saturday at 731-377-4574 to see if we have picked your dog up. We also have a group called Pet Haven where we can post your pet is missing. Letting Jess know your dog is missing means she can keep an eye out for them. 
  5. What do I do if I am needing to report a dog violation/vicious dog/roaming stray? please call the Lake County Sheriff's 731-253-7791 office to have them dispatch Animal Control to the scene as if it is a county call Pet Haven Animal Control is unable to respond. This also ensures the county and cities can see the need for Animal Control within our townships. 
  6. What if I am needing to surrender my dog? call Jess at 731-377-4574. Please understand we are a very small facility and may not have room. We will work with you on trying to rehome your dog and if an available spot comes open, we will call you to take your dog. There is a surrender fee.
  7. Can I donate to the shelter? Yes, please see our donation page to how you can donate.
  8. Can I volunteer? Yes, please see the donations and about us page to see how to volunteer?
  9. How old do I have to be to volunteer? Minimum age is 16.
  10. Can I foster a dog you have at the shelter? Yes you can, please see the foster page to learn more. 
  11. What if I want to only foster certain breeds? You can fill out a foster form and when we get those breeds in you will immediately be the first called. 
  12. Can I foster to potentially adopt? Yes, we will work on that on a case to case basis.  
  13. Are you a 501c3 organization? Not yet, we are working on this. 
  14. Do you take cats? Unfortunately, at this time our shelter is not set up to take cats or kittens. We can try to help find a kitten/cat rescue for you or if you are needing to spay/neuter your cat we can point you in the right direction for that as well. 
  15. If I want to adopt a dog from your shelter will you spay/neuter first? If we have the funds, yes we will. Otherwise, we will need donations towards the spay/neuter. The adoption fee will go up to the spay/neutered dog adoption fee at that time.
  16. I am in need of dog/cat food, will y'all help? We don't usually have the extra dog food to give out currently, but if we do we will and we can always ask for donations from our group members to help you out at that time.  However, it will be what we can get donated to us.
  17. Does putting in an application for a dog automatically mean I will be able to adopt that dog? No, we look at all the information on your adoption form and we look at our dogs behavior/their breed type/mannerisms/energy level/etc. To see if a good match is made. It does not mean you are automatically denied either based on answers.
  18. I live in the county and want to surrender my dog, will you take him? Unfortunately, we cannot at this time. We would be willing to make post for you and see if we can't find a foster, rescue, or new adopter for him for you.

  20. When I come to adopt a dog can I use a card? At this time we are cash only due to people doing chargebacks and keeping dogs.
  21. If I pay for the spay/neuter before adoption will you hold the dog for me? Yes, if you pay for a spay/neuter for a dog you are adopting the dog will be held and we can wait for the dog to be healed before going home.
